VP Robredo and Angat Buhay partners give motor boats to coastal communities

The Office of VP Leni Robredo, in collaboration with Angat Buhay partners, gave much-needed assistance to fisherfolk whose livelihood were affected by Typhoon Nina.

Last Friday, the OVP officially turned over 30 motor boats to fisherfolk of the coastal communities in Bula, Camarines Sur.

Bula was one of the most devastated areas when Typhoon Nina hit Camarines Sur in December 2016. With winds topping 250 kilometers per hour, the storm ravaged the province of Camarines Sur and left it in a state of calamity.

The OVP posted on its FB page:

For months, the local fisherfolk of Brgys. Caorasan and Itangon were unable to sail and catch fish because the typhoon had destroyed their boats. With no income and food to put on the table, the fishermen have become more vulnerable.

The distribution of motor boats was made possible through the Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation.

A few days earlier, the OVP assisted fishermen who were also affected by Typhoon Nina in the municipality of Tinambac, Camarines Sur. Fishermen from the barangays of  Daligan, Bani, and Caloco were given new boats through the help of Angat Buhay partners RAF International Forwarding, Inc. and the Vice Squad.

Angat Buhay is a program launched by the OVP to raise "the quality of life of every Filipino family". The program is also in line with VP Robredo's campaign promise to focus on Filipinos on the fringes ("laylayan") of society.
